In college, one of my professors gave my class a piece of wisdom that seemed earthshaking then, but with some time behind us now, it rings true:

“Twenty years from now, there will be jobs you apply for and are hiring for that have titles and descriptions that don’t even exist today.”

This entire tour came to be thanks to our customer, Jim Berger, the IT Manager for Grosfillex. They are a client of DirectLTx, and Jim is on the Occupational Advisory Committee for the Lebanon Career and Technology Center. Jim thought that having the students see a Data Center would be a great learning opportunity and experience for them, and he sure was right.

The students spent a half-day with us where we discussed data center operations, employment opportunities in the data center field, and the technology employed in running a data center. They were thoroughly engaged and had significant observations and questions concerning Direct LTx and the future of data colocation, cloud computing, etc.

We sincerely thank Jim, Daniel, and the students of LCCTC for coming out, being respectful, and offering such insightful questions. So, as it was once told to us, maybe the jobs you will be hiring for in twenty years aren’t here yet, but we know you will have the preparation needed to succeed. We can’t wait to experience the world of technology that you help shape in the coming decades!
