InfoSec professionals can invest heavily in anti-hacking tools and architect sophisticated, state-of-the-art data protection strategies, but when a hacker sweet talks an employee for the proper authorization to get into your systems, enabling them to move laterally throughout, it may be all over for you.  

That is what we saw in the recent hack of MGM, which disabled video poker and slot machines, required guests to check in via paper and pen, and even rendered room key systems inoperable, not just in Vegas but in several MGM casino properties nationwide.   Caesars suffered a similar breach a while back and reportedly paid a steep ransom to regain control of their systems.   

They may start with casino companies, but they’ll try them elsewhere when those tactics work.  How confident can you be that your organization is not in their crosshairs?
